Correction and Retraction Policy

Automech: Jurnal Teknik Mesin is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. This policy explains when an article may be corrected, when a submitted manuscript may be withdrawn, and when a published article may be retracted. All authors are expected to read this policy before submitting a manuscript to Automech.

1. Corrections

1.1 Scope of corrections

A correction may only be made to fix errors in the writing of author names or author affiliations for authors who are already listed in the manuscript. Examples are a misspelled name, an incomplete name, or an incorrectly written institution name.

A correction cannot be used to:

  • add a new author to the article;
  • change the content of the article, including the title, abstract, keywords, main text, equations, data, figures, tables, results, conclusions, or references.

1.2 Author responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for making sure that all information in their manuscript is correct and complete before submission and when they approve the final proof. This includes the names, order, and affiliations of all authors. Automech publishes the article as submitted and approved by the authors.

1.3 Requests to add or change author names and affiliations

Adding or changing author names or affiliations is not treated as a routine correction. To request such a change, authors must:

  1. send an email to the Automech editorial office from the corresponding author, stating the article title, the submission ID or volume/issue, the requested change, and the reason for the change; and
  2. attach a statement letter signed by all authors, including any author being added, confirming that every author agrees with the requested change.

Requests without a statement letter signed by all authors will not be processed. Automech reserves the right to decline any request that does not meet this policy.

2. Withdrawal of Submitted Manuscripts

Authors may withdraw a submitted manuscript only before it has entered the review process. To request a withdrawal, authors must:

  1. send an email to the Automech editorial office from the corresponding author, stating the manuscript title, the submission ID, and the reason for the withdrawal; and
  2. attach a withdrawal statement letter signed by all authors, confirming that every author agrees to withdraw the manuscript.

Withdrawal requests without a statement letter signed by all authors will not be processed.

Once a manuscript has entered the review process, withdrawal is strongly discouraged, because editors and reviewers have already spent time and effort evaluating it. If a manuscript is withdrawn after it has entered the review process, all authors of the manuscript will be banned from submitting to Automech for one (1) year from the date of withdrawal.

3. Retraction of Published Articles

Articles published in Automech cannot be withdrawn or retracted, including at the request of the authors.

The only exception is a dispute or complaint stating that the published article plagiarizes another person’s earlier published work, and the Automech editorial team has investigated and confirmed the claim. In such a case:

  • the complaint must be sent to Automech by email together with supporting evidence (for example, the original publication and the overlapping parts);
  • the Automech editorial team will investigate the complaint and give the authors an opportunity to respond;
  • if plagiarism is confirmed, the article will be retracted and a retraction notice will be published and linked to the article. The retracted article will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as “RETRACTED” to keep the scholarly record intact.
