Post-Publication Discussion
- Introduction
Musyarakah: Journal of Sharia Economics (MJSE) recognizes that scholarly communication continues beyond the publication of an article. Post-publication discussion, critical evaluation, and the correction of published research are essential to maintaining academic integrity, improving the quality of scientific knowledge, and preserving the reliability of the scholarly record.
MJSE provides opportunities for researchers, academics, practitioners, and other members of the scholarly community to communicate comments, criticisms, clarifications, and scientific discussions concerning published articles. This policy establishes the procedures for handling post-publication discussions, correcting errors, and retracting articles when necessary.
In implementing this policy, MJSE follows recognized publication ethics principles, including the relevant guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Post-Publication Discussion
MJSE welcomes constructive scholarly discussions concerning articles published in the journal. Such discussions may address the research methodology, theoretical framework, interpretation of findings, validity of conclusions, originality, or implications for the development of Islamic economics and finance.
Post-publication comments may relate to topics within the journal's focus and scope, including Islamic economics, Islamic banking, Islamic finance, Islamic accounting, Islamic microfinance, zakat, waqf, and Islamic philanthropy.
Readers and researchers may submit comments, critical assessments, requests for clarification, or scholarly responses to the editorial team through the journal's official communication channels. Where appropriate and supported by the journal's publishing platform, comments or responses may be published as a letter to the editor, a scholarly commentary, or another suitable form of academic communication.
All submissions for post-publication discussion will be assessed by the editorial team to ensure that they are relevant, evidence-based, respectful, and consistent with the journal's publication ethics. The journal may invite the original authors to respond to substantive comments to encourage balanced and constructive academic dialogue.
- Procedures for Submitting and Handling Comments
Individuals wishing to submit post-publication comments or criticisms should identify the article concerned and clearly explain the issues being raised. Submissions should provide sufficient supporting evidence or scholarly reasoning to enable the editorial team to assess their validity.
The editorial team will evaluate each submission based on its academic relevance, clarity, supporting evidence, and compliance with publication ethics. Depending on the nature of the submission, the journal may:
- Request additional information or clarification from the contributor.
- Invite the original authors to provide a response.
- Consult independent experts or reviewers when specialized assessment is required.
- Publish the comment and the author's response, where appropriate.
- Refer potential research misconduct or serious ethical concerns for further investigation.
Post-publication discussions must be conducted professionally and must not contain defamatory statements, personal attacks, unsupported allegations, or other content that violates ethical scholarly communication.
