All parties involved in publishing the journal, including editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher, are expected to uphold ethical principles and ensure the credibility and quality of scholarly publications in the field of Sharia economics.
- Duties of Editors
- Fairness and Editorial Independence
Editors evaluate manuscripts objectively based on their originality, academic quality, methodological rigor, clarity, and relevance to the scope of Musyarakah: Journal of Sharia Economics (MJSE). Editorial decisions are made without discrimination based on personal characteristics, beliefs, nationality, institutional affiliation, or other irrelevant considerations. Editors maintain editorial independence in determining publication decisions.
- Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest
Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and disclose manuscript information only to authorized parties involved in the editorial process. Unpublished information must not be used for personal or professional benefit without the author's written consent. Editors with actual or potential conflicts of interest must withdraw from handling the relevant manuscript and assign it to an independent editor.
- Publication Decisions and Peer Review
All manuscripts considered for publication must undergo a fair and rigorous peer-review process involving at least two qualified reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on the manuscript's scholarly merit, reviewers' recommendations, the journal's standards, and applicable legal and ethical requirements, including plagiarism and copyright compliance.
- Research Misconduct and Ethical Concerns
Editors must investigate allegations of publication misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and other violations of research ethics. Appropriate actions may include requesting clarification, issuing corrections or expressions of concern, retracting articles, or taking other measures consistent with applicable publication ethics guidelines, including COPE recommendations.
- Duties of Reviewers
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Reviewers support editorial decisions by providing constructive, evidence-based assessments of manuscripts. Their feedback should help authors improve the quality, clarity, validity, and scholarly contribution of their work.
- Competence, Timeliness, and Confidentiality
Reviewers should accept assignments only when they possess appropriate expertise and can complete the review within the agreed timeframe. If they are unable to review a manuscript or identify a conflict of interest, they must promptly inform the editor and decline the assignment. Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with unauthorized parties.
- Objectivity and Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviews must be objective, respectful, and supported by clear academic reasoning. Personal criticism of authors is unacceptable. Reviewers should identify relevant literature that has not been cited and notify editors of suspected plagiarism, substantial similarity, or other potential ethical concerns.
- Conflicts of Interest and Responsible Use of Information
Reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest and decline assignments when their impartiality may be compromised. Unpublished data, ideas, and information obtained through peer review must remain confidential and must not be used for personal or professional advantage without the authors' explicit written permission.
- Duties of Authors
- Research Integrity and Reporting Standards
Authors must present their research accurately, transparently, and objectively, including the methodology, data, findings, limitations, and scholarly implications. Manuscripts must provide sufficient information and appropriate references to support evaluation and, where applicable, replication. Fabrication, falsification, and misleading reporting are strictly unacceptable.
- Originality, Plagiarism, and Duplicate Publication
Authors must submit original work, acknowledge all sources appropriately, and provide proper citations for ideas, data, quotations, and findings derived from other publications. Plagiarism, including unattributed paraphrasing and self-plagiarism, is unacceptable. Manuscripts must not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal at the same time, except where a legitimate secondary publication has been transparently agreed upon by the relevant parties and complies with applicable publication standards.
- Authorship and Acknowledgment
Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research, participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript, and approved the final version for publication. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all eligible co-authors are included, that authorship is agreed upon, and that all authors approve the submission. Other contributors should be appropriately acknowledged with their permission.
- Data Availability and Research Transparency
Authors should retain research data and provide relevant supporting materials when reasonably requested by the editors, subject to applicable legal, ethical, confidentiality, and data-protection requirements. Data availability should be facilitated where practicable, without compromising participants' privacy or legitimate proprietary rights.
- Disclosure of Funding and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose financial and non-financial interests that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, their research or its interpretation. All sources of financial support, including grant information where applicable, must be acknowledged in the manuscript.
- Ethical Approval and Protection of Research Participants
Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable laws, institutional policies, and recognized ethical standards. Authors must obtain the necessary ethical approval and informed consent where required, protect participant confidentiality and privacy, and include relevant ethical statements in the manuscript. Any unusual risks associated with research procedures or equipment must also be appropriately disclosed.
- Peer-Review Cooperation and Post-Publication Corrections
Authors must cooperate with the editorial and peer-review processes, provide requested clarifications or supporting documentation, and respond to reviewers' comments systematically and within the specified deadlines. If significant errors are discovered after publication, authors must promptly notify the editors and cooperate in issuing a correction or retracting the article when necessary.
